Thirty-five-year-old Lukas Rosol failed to make it past the first round of French Open qualifying in the French capital. The two-time winner will therefore not be competing at the top of the clay court season.
Recently, Lukas Rosol has not been doing well at all. Since his participation in the final of the Challenger in Cherbourg, the 35-year-old tennis player has played in six clay events, scoring only one victory.
He did not improve his statistics even in the qualification for the French Open. He lost in the first round to Brazilian Felipe Meligeni Rodrigues Alves, who is trying to make his debut at a Grand Slam.
Lukas Rosol lost to the player from the third 100th ATP ranking by 4::6, 6::2 and 0::6. It means that the Brno native will not appear at the French Open like last year. His best result is his quarterfinal appearance in 2015.
Of the Czech tennis players, only Jiri Vesely, who will have a dress rehearsal in Parma, Italy, is guaranteed to participate in the main stage of the French Open. In the qualification round, the Czech team will be represented by Tomáš Macháč – Zdeněk Kolář.
The main part of the French Open is scheduled to start on Sunday 30 May, with the final two weeks later. Last year’s triumph will be defended by Rafael Nadal, but Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas will not be absent either.
