Only Jiri Vesely will represent the Czech Republic on the ATP circuit in the current week. He will play in the tournament in Cagliari, Italy, the winner of which will add 250 points to the ranking. Veselý’s opening opponent will be Slovak Andrej Martin.
If the 27-year-old Czech manages to dominate the whole tournament, he could return to the top 50 tennis players in the world after a long time. His current best is 35th.
The WTA tournament in Charleston will have a significantly larger Czech participation. Besides Petra Kvitova, the tournament’s number three, we will also be interested in the results of Maria Bouzkova and Markéta Vondroušová.
Also the tournament in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, will have a Czech line-up. Tereza Martincova will be playing on the local courts and will be the tournament’s number seven.
Both of the aforementioned WTA tournaments will be broadcast on O2 TV Tennis from Monday.
