World number one Novak Djokovic certainly didn’t make it to the final as he imagined. Djokovic lost a set in duels with Tiafoe, Raonic and Zverev. But his biggest problems were caused by American Fritz, who took two sets off the Serb.
In that duel he suffered an abdominal muscle injury. But he should be completely fine now and nothing should limit him. But we could certainly have seen much more convincing performances from him.
He’ll be going up against Russia’s Medvedev for his ninth Australian Open title. Pospisil, Rublev and Tsitsipas met him on their way to the final. He was able to beat all of them without losing a set.
However, he was beaten in the third round by Filip Krajinovic. The compatriot of the world number one took the match to five sets, but was beaten in the match.
So what to bet on? We can expect a very good and balanced match on Sunday, which has no favourite. Personally, I give the Russian player more chances to win.
After all, he has won twenty matches in a row, five of which were at the Tournament of Champions in London. I wouldn’t be afraid to say that he is in the form of his life at the moment.
Moreover, the 25-year-old Russian has won three of his last four matches with Djokovic. On Sunday, he could enjoy the first grand slam of his career.
Djokovic cannot be underestimated either. He should win at least one set. You can bet on it at odds of 1.15. The last time he failed to do so at the Australian Open was in the 2018 semi-finals against Hyoen Chung.
