As we reported a few hours ago, the last RFA 7 tournament featured Czech wrestler Oleg Serdyuk, who has tattooed Nazi symbols on his thighs. He has now come forward with a reaction and a promise to make amends.
The RFA 7 tournament offered us some interesting fights, with all the favourites winning the more infamous ones from the perspective of the less biased fan of the organisation.
Václav Sivák defeated Patrik Záderja on points, while Miroslav Brož and Tadeáš Růžiška also enjoyed victories by TKO. Although RFA improved in some aspects, it still made one huge mistake.
That was the start of Oleg Serdyuk. The Czech Republic MMA champion succumbed to Gergely Csibi on points, but after the fight a huge wave of criticism rose on his name for something completely different than his performance.
He has Nazi symbols tattooed on both thighs. Specifically, on one thigh the emblem of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment and on the other thigh the Iron Cross.
Representatives of the organization soon reacted and announced that they wanted to distance themselves from this and Serdyuk would no longer represent their organization.
Serdyuk commented on the situation
However, after reading the many negative reactions, Serdyuk decided to give his opinion on the whole matter. He shared his statement on Instagram Stories.
“Hello, a short statement about the wrestling and tattoo scandal. Anyone can make a mistake, it’s important how they approach it.
The way I approach my mistake, which I acknowledge, is that I’m going to get it all redone because this is my stupidity from the past. Idon’t subscribe to anything and I just want to concentrate on the sport and do good performances,” he said.
Whether you believe his words is up to you. Of course, Serdyuk still had the number 88 after his Instagram moniker today, which is rather problematic given his Nazi usage.
