Combat sports can often write incredible stories. Twenty-five-year-old Zion Clark, who was born without legs, writes one of them. On the night of Saturday to Sunday, he scored his first ever MMA fight, which he even won.
Zion Clark has already made a name for himself on social media. His gym videos have earned him the respect and appreciation of many fans. However, the now 25-year-old has also started a wrestling career.
First and foremost, he has dedicated himself directly to freestyle wrestling and has more than once let it be known that he dreams of participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024. But that is not his only dream.
He also dreams of a career in MMA, which he launched on Saturday night when he made his professional debut. He took on Eugene Murray at the Gladiator Challenge.
Clark, who has had to face many obstacles in his life due to a rare disorder, handled the bout with flying colors. With his great wrestling, he was able to torment his opponent and won on points. It was Murray’s fifth career loss.
The 25-year-old American hopes that this is the beginning of a new path that will lead to the UFC. It won’t be easy, but it’s still hugely inspiring.
“I’m special. I have drive and I live without excuses. I push myself every day. This is just the beginning of another professional career for me. People have laughed at me because I have no legs, but the best way to deal with naysayers is to use their hatred to your advantage,” the Daily Mail quoted Clark as saying.
Clark takes the path of a fighter extremely seriously. He trains with former UFC stars, of particular note are Anderson Silva, Mike Perry and Rampage Jackson.
