Beautiful news! Two UFC fighters who are already married have announced that they are expecting a child together. Specifically, they are Tecia Torres and Raquel Pennington. Torres, who is pregnant, will be taking a break from fighting.
Both Tecia Torres and Raquel Pennington are among the absolute world’s top MMA fighters in their respective weight classes. While the former is the number eight strawweight in the UFC at 33, the latter is even the number five bantamweight at 34.
They have been a couple for several years now, and even officially married this summer. Now, however, the two fighters have announced a beautiful news, which seems rather strange considering that it is not exactly a usual thing.
That news is that the one year younger Torres is pregnant. Her due date is estimated for June. The UFC stars boasted the information on social media, where they received a lot of congratulations and positive reactions.
While Pennington now has four wins in a row and faces another tough battle with Ketlen Vieira in Las Vegas on January 14, Torres will logically have to take a break.
For the pregnant fighter, however, this is the perfect opportunity to take a break from fighting for a while. She last fought in April against Mackenzie Dern and lost a close decision on points. It ended her streak of three straight wins.
Torres, however, plans to come back at full strength. While we most likely won’t see her in the cage next year, we can look forward to seeing her in the cage again in 2024.
It’s worth noting that it was the pregnant fighter who subsequently posted a touching post on social media, featuring several photos from her and her wife’s history together.
