On Friday evening, the Czech women’s national football team gathered for their last match of the year. After two training sessions in Strahov, the team flew to Bucharest.
There, coach Karel Rada’s charges will play a friendly match against Romania, who will be the outsider in the match. The reason for this is the last defeat against Poland 0:6.
“We are preparing for the preparatory match in Romania responsibly, like any other match. We are going into it with the idea that we want to succeed and end this year with a win,” Sparta defender Antonia Stárová told the national team website.
The Romanians are not among the world’s elite, but they are certainly not to be underestimated. They finished third behind Italy and Switzerland in the European Championship qualification.
They also finished ahead of the Croatians, whom they beat twice. “We expect them to play in a deeper block and we will try to get into them with combination play.
We have to watch out for their quick counterattacks from which they can be very dangerous,” said Starova, who studied in the US and even played soccer there.
The Czechs will have a training session at the Arcul de Triumf stadium before Tuesday’s match, with the duel with the Romanians scheduled for 17:15. It will be broadcast by CT Sport.
