I will not leave Real Madrid in the winter, says Hazard. If the club wants me in the summer, I’ll accept it
Eden Hazard is a huge underdog. His dream transfer to Real Madrid turned into a fiasco. His engagement in the Spanish capital has been crushed by injuries that have left him with virtually nothing to show for his time in the white jersey. He apologises to the fans and reveals his future.
Eden Hazard is a huge underdog. His dream transfer to Real Madrid turned into a fiasco. His engagement in the Spanish capital has been crushed by injuries that have left him with virtually nothing to show for his time in the white jersey. He apologises to the fans and reveals his future.
Hazard has been a Real Madrid player for three and a half years. But the Premier League’s best player and a big signing has gradually become a liability that the club wants to get rid of.
For the first time since his transfer to the Iberian Peninsula, he gave an interview to the Spanish media. He chose the daily MARCA and the popular journalist Mario Cortegana, to whom he answered in fluent Spanish at the Belgian national team meeting.
At the same time, he did not set any maximum time for the interview and did not even veto any question, which Cortegana said is very unusual these days. But Hazard wanted to explain his situation to the fans. And he sent a message.
“I’m sorry, my friends. I’ve tried, but… I’m sorry. I’ve had terrible luck with injuries. I still have a year to go, but it’s not easy…,” Hazard told Real Madrid fans.
The Belgian striker also commented on his situation at Real Madrid. Is his departure possible in January?
“It’s impossible in January because I have family here, I like the city. But in the summer it is possible that I will leave. I have a contract for another year and it’s the club’s decision. If the club asks me to leave, I accept. But I would like to play more, to prove that I am a good player,” Hazard said.
At Real Madrid, he misses playing time and admits there are better players than him in the team. But now he has a chance to prove himself, because he is captain of the Belgian national team and has a lot of trust in the coach. At the same time, this is probably his last chance.
“This championship is the last train for me to show that I am still the Hazard. I have to prove to everyone that I can play football. People doubt how I can play, but I don’t,” believes Hazard.
