Conference league
Slavia has no progress in its hands. What results do they need to advance?
Slavia should have been the clear favourite in Group G of the Conference League. In competition with Sivaspor, Cluj and Ballkani, the Susians should have easily advanced from the first place, but now they are shaking to advance at all.
Slavia should have been the clear favourite in Group G of the Conference League. In a competition with Sivaspor, Cluj and Ballkani, the Susians should have easily advanced from the first place, but now they are shaking to advance at all.
The last two games remain in the Conference League. Slavia will first challenge Ballkani away, then play Sivaspor at home. The situation in the table is very confused.
The idea has spread among the fans that if Slavia wins twice, they will have 10 points and will be clearly promoted. But that’s not quite the case.
If Sivasspor beat Cluj and the Romanian side beat Ballkani in the last round, all three teams will have 10 points. At that point, the mini-table would be decided by deleting the Ballkani matches.
At that point, Sivasspor would have seven points, Cluj would have six points and Slavia would have only four points, which would mean third place and the end of the Conference League.
Slavia thus needs a non-loss of Cluj to Sivaspor. If they then beat the Turkish side at home, they would be promoted at their expense.
Promotion at the expense of Cluj is also in play if they lose to Sivaspor. But then the Romanian side would have to lose at home to Ballkani.
If Slavia still wanted to think about the first place, they would have to win both games and Cluj would have to lose both games.
