For a long time, however, it did not look like Slovácko could think about scoring any points. Especially in the first half, they were the worse team and resisted Nice’s attacks. Diop converted the game’s superiority into a goal and the French side led 1:0 at half-time.
With the second half, the game picture changed. Slovácko started to play more actively and got into scoring opportunities. They were rewarded with Tomic’s equalizer, which was followed by Reinberk’s in the 87th minute.
The turnaround was complete and Slovácko took a fantastic three points from France. Although they are still in last place in the group, they are only one point behind the second place. It was a very important victory in the group.
The coach Martin Svědík was of course also happy with the win, even though he had some reservations about the game. “Our performance in the first half was clearly the worst in the group, we just continued the game misery we had with Bohemians,” said Svědík critically.
But the second half was much better, which was perceived by the coach himself. “I am glad that the team was able to react, including us coaches, by substituting and changing the formation. In the second half, our performance improved and we were the better team after the equalising goal,” added the coach.
He also praised the performance of goalkeeper Filip Nguyen. “I think Filip Nguyen was the key figure today. He kept us in the 0:1 situation and was the cornerstone to turn the second half around,” concluded Martin Svědík.
