Champions League: Incredible Brugge remain 100%, Leverkusen fail again

Eight matches of the Champions League group stage were played on Tuesday. Belgium’s Brugge maintained their 100% record, while Tottenham lost for the second time in a row and the Czechs in the colours of Bayer Leverkusen did not fare as well.

Group A

In Group A, Napoli took the top spot. They were trailing Ajax from the ninth minute, but then turned the tide with six goals. Rangers fell to Liverpool 0:2 after goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.

The table remains unbeaten with a draw. Napoli are first on nine points, with Liverpool three points worse off. Third place belongs to Ajax with three points and Rangers are clearly last with zero.

Group B

In the B group, Bruges continue to write the fairy tale. The Belgian champions beat Atlético 2:0 at home and still did not score once in the group, while Leverkusen fell 0:2 in Porto. Both Patrik Schick and Adam Hložek started in the starting line-up, Schick missed a penalty.

So the table has an unexpected shape after three rounds. After three rounds, Brugge are 100 percent, while the other three teams are all six points behind. Leverkusen and Atlético have the advantage over Porto of playing twice more at home.

Group C

In Group C, after Plzeň’s 0:5 away loss to Bayern, Barcelona also failed to beat Inter 0:2 at the San Siro. Bayern are top of the table with nine points, Inter are three behind, Barcelona are six behind and Plzeň are still on zero points.

Group D

Group D remains the most shuffled, Sporting despite their first loss to Marseille remain first with six points, Tottenham and Frankfurt are tied for second after a goalless draw. Marseille are on three points.
