Slavia fell at home to Cluj in the third match of the group stage. Sešivani were more active, but the only goal of the match was scored by the visiting Cluj, who took all three points to Romania. What did Lukáš Provod say after the match?
Slavia were the favourites in their group after the draw, they drew 1-1 with Sivaspor in their first match in Turkey. They then beat Ballkani 3: 2 at home and the fans believed that another win would follow.
But that didn’t happen. The Sešivans were more active, but the visitors had their chances and converted one of them. Rangelo Janga, to be precise, who fired Cluj’s first group stage win.
Slavia hit the post several times during the match, the bar was also hit by Lukáš Provod, after whose long-range shot the fans were already slowly getting up from their seats.
“I saw the trajectory exactly and I thought that it would go into the net from the bar and in the end it didn’t. I hope it will come back in a future game,” he told the club website in a post-match interview.
After this loss, Slavia have four points, which was certainly not expected before the start of the group stage. The other teams in Group G also have the same number of points, which leaves it wide open. Is this a complication?
“No, we are at the beginning. It’s not a complication, but we made it harder for ourselves because we wanted to win and get a jump on those teams. Unfortunately, we didn’t do that, but I believe it’s all about us and we’ll get through those games and advance,” Provod finished.
