Manchester United had their next English Premier League game on Sunday, October 10, when the Red Devils took on Everton. It was a very special match, especially for Cristiano Ronaldo, who reached a historic milestone with his 700th goal!
Everton and Manchester United played each other in the tenth round of the English top flight football competition, with the home side taking the lead after just five minutes through 26-year-old striker Alex Iwobi.
Ten minutes later, however, it was level. After a clever pass behind the defence, Antony got close to the Everton goal and hit the bottom left corner of the net – 1-1.
However, the Red Devils struck once more in the match, with a 44th minute goal from the star Ronaldo being the decisive one. Erik ten Hag’s charges outclassed Everton and won 2: 1. You can see Ronaldo’s goal for yourself in the video below.
Historic milestone – 700th goal
Ronaldo’s 2:1 goal, however, meant something much more. It was Ronaldo’s 700th goal in club football, a feat that took him 943 games to achieve.
He scored the most goals for Real Madrid (450), of course. 144 goals for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus and five more for Sporting Lisbon.
He has scored the most accurate shots into the opponents’ nets with his right foot, which he has used 460 times. In the case of Everton, however, it was a left-footed finish. He scored 125 times.
That Hag about Ronaldo…
The Manchester United head coach also commented on his performance and the milestone he surpassed, and he could not but praise Ronaldo.
“It’s really impressive when you score 700 goals, it’s something unreal. I’m really happy for him, I congratulate him on this performance and I’m also happy that it’s his first goal in the Premier League this season – he had to wait for it and I’m sure there will be more goals,” said the Hag, whose words were quoted by the BBC.
It was only Ronaldo’s second goal in the current season. The first came in September in a Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol.
