Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé have been the most frequently linked duo of the last year. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has had to face these questions constantly, but after the Frenchman’s extension at PSG, the tension has subsided somewhat. However, when new information came to light, the topic is back.
Mbappé has wanted a transfer to Real Madrid since he was a kid, last year Los Blancos offered 200 million euros for him and the player himself had a lot of interest in the transfer. However, PSG brushed all offers off the table.
However, when Mbappé had the chance to leave for free this year as his contract was coming to an end, he didn’t take up the offer. After a lot of pressure from the club’s management, from the most influential people in Qatar and even from French president Emmanuel Macron, he decided to stay at PSG.
He originally signed a three-year contract until June 2025. But French newspaper L’Equipe came out last week with the information that the contract is effectively only until 2024 and the last year is an option that can only be activated by Mbappe.
Real Madrid could thus try to get him for free again in two years. And so, understandably, Carlo Ancelotti didn’t dodge the question at the press conference before the Champions League match against Leipzig.
“I give up,” Ancelotti began to laugh and put his hands down without letting the journalist finish the question. “I give up on this question, ” laughed the Italian coach, who seems to be fed up with the subject of Mbappé.
“We’re thrilled with our strikers, with our mads. We’re excited about Karim, of course, but we’re even more excited about the young players, which you get more excited about than from a player you’re used to. We are really excited about Vinícius and Rodrygo,” Ancelotti praised his Brazilian charges. “We don’t think about other players,” the Italian added.
