Manchester United will be looking to make amends for their disappointing Europa League group stage opener against Real Sociedad this evening. They will now face Sheriff Tiraspol and there will even be Czech representation on the United bench.
Manchester United fell to Real Sociedad 0:1 at home. The fans were not happy, the Europa League is not exactly what they would have imagined and they expected a clear victory.
The Red Devils will be able to make up for it this evening, at 18:45 they will play against Sheriff Tiraspol at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau.
The favourite is clear, but United will definitely not be able to send a significantly weakened line-up to the pitch. After all, another defeat would significantly complicate their promotion goals.
However, coach Erik ten Hag has also brought along some youngsters, one of them being Czech 18-year-old goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who transferred to United in the summer of 2020 from Sigma Olomouc.
Vítek is the number one of the local twenty-one, with another compatriot Ondřej Mastný, who arrived from Jihlava in 2018 and is now twenty years old, backing him up.
Vítek will be in the booth with players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, Bruno Frenandes and Casemiro. That’s definitely valuable experience, although he most likely won’t even be involved in the competition itself.
