If Foden can be like Benzema, Haaland will shine like Ronaldo at Real Madrid
Manchester City may not be leading the table, being two points behind a rampant Arsenal, but in all other stats they absolutely dominate and few believe it won’t be Guardiola’s squad that wins the Premier League next year. However, something is missing to complete perfection and it has already cost the Citizens two points.

Everyone wants to score goals, especially Phli Foden and Erling Haaland. It is this duo who are a key part in the Spanish coach’s trident as they have his great confidence. But all that glitters is not gold.
In fact, this season we have already seen more than once Guardiola get upset at the moment when Foden went alone at the goalkeeper and next to him was a perfectly charged Haaland, to whom if he had sent a pass, the Norwegian hitman would have had no hard job in getting the ball into the uncovered net.
Only the English winger, though he must have known about his teammate, decided to finish. Of course, the goalkeeper caught him out and instead of rejoicing at the goal, the Manchester City fans buried their faces in their hands in disappointment.
In the first case of this season, it still didn’t matter, the Citizens calmly strolled to three points, however, against Newcastle, they had only managed a point and this chance could have decided who would be basking at the top of the Premier League table by the next round.
Haaland alone could have scored five times against Newcastle:: He scored once, then hit the bar, went alone at the goalkeeper, crossed once and the fifth goal could have been a clearance of Foden’s pass.
So it will be interesting to see how Guardiola manages to tame the English winger so that he functions like Karim Benzema did at Real Madrid in the Cristiano Ronaldo era.
Had the French striker not sacrificed himself for his teammate, the current Manchester United player would not have scored nearly as many goals.
This fact will be especially important in the Champions League, which the Citizens owners particularly wish to win, something they have failed to do for a long time.
This season, however, they have an exceptional team with a real cannonballer, who is being passed to by excellent technicians led by Kevin De Bruyne. If they pull together, they can win it all.
Of course, it’s very early to make any assessment after only three league games, but Manchester City’s stats from this season say something.
Ball possession:: 66.5%, shots per game:: 18, pass success rate::: 91%. In all of this, Citizens players are the best in the Premier League so far.
