There has been speculation about a return to Portugal, to Juventus, even to Real Madrid. But so far, not only Ronaldo, but also other clubs and officials have remained silent. Or refuse to, as Real Madrid boss Florentino Pérez recently did.
Now BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke has spoken out. “Seeing Ronaldo play at Signal Iduna Park is a charming idea,” he told German website Sky sports. “But there is really no contact between the two sides. So we should stop talking about it,” he added.
Cristiano Ronaldo has tried his hand in several top European leagues during his career and could definitely be a key factor for Borussia. Dortmund lost Erling Haaland over the summer break and his replacement, Sebastian Haller, unfortunately has cancer.
The team has thus had to strengthen Anthony Modeste, who has the tough job of replacing the 20 goals that went with Norwegian striker Haaland. Meanwhile, the goals are being scored by other, mainly young players. Thanks to them, the Black and Yellows have full points after two rounds.
Back to Ronaldo. The Portuguese’s motivation to leave is very likely to increase with each passing day, as the Red Devils are not playing Champions League and are clearly last after the first two rounds of the Premier League. Last time they took a big beating from Brentford, losing 0-4. In their next game they will face Liverpool.
Whether the famous Portuguese will say goodbye to Manchester is currently in the stars. However, it will be interesting to see how the story of Cristiano Ronaldo develops in the coming weeks and how his possible departure will affect not only United but the whole football world.
