Slovan Bratislava will face a rematch of the third round of the Europa League on Thursday against Olympiakos Piraeus at home. The opening game ended 1-1, what to expect this time and what to bet on?
Slovan cannot be satisfied with the qualification so far. In the second round of the Champions League, they fell out with Ferencváros and have not yet won the cups. In any case, they came away from the hot ground of Olympiakos with a decent 1-1 draw.
The visitors are not happy either. In the second round of the Champions League they unexpectedly fell out with Maccabi Haifa and even a home draw with Slovan is not a good sign. In the rematch they are expected to qualify.
The home team is led by winger and senior international David Hrncar, who scored three times and assisted seven times last season. Spiked forward Ezekiel Henty even opened the net 14 times last year and assisted on another five goals.
On the away side, it’s been Tiquinho Soares who has scored fourteen times and assisted on three goals last year. Greek national team’s top striker Georgios Masouras scored twelve times and assisted three times.
Slovan have been doing well at home recently, scoring at least three goals in three of their last four games at their stadium
Olympiakos, on the other hand, is struggling defensively, having failed to keep a clean sheet in four matches, during which it has conceded eight goals.
Given Olympiakos’ experience in big games, despite the decent form of Slovan’s attack, I think the visitors will do better in the rematch and advance.
