I don’t scold players for missing chances, they don’t do it on purpose, says Trpišovský

Slavia Prague made a successful start to the Conference League, beating St. Joseph’s 4-0. The team could have scored many more goals against the Gibraltar midgets, but they burned several chances. However, this did not upset Trpišovský.

Slavia entered the match very actively and especially the European phenomenon Yira Sor was in form again. The Nigerian speedster scored the first goal in the 21st minute and added the second in the 32nd minute.

Two minutes later, the opponents went up to ten. In the 45th minute, Ewerton added a goal to the locker room. In the second half, Slavia could have put a shot from Usor into the net by Lingr and it was 4:0. However, Susians could have scored many more goals.

Tiéhi burned two great chances, first after a corner at the back post, then with a header from a small area he headed over. From the same position, Fila shot wide after a beautiful centre by Douděra, Douděra could have scored himself after a beautiful pass behind the defence, but he only shot it in the face of the goalkeeper.

Lingr could have added a second goal, but he only hit the bar after a slip pass from Usor. After that, Fila prepared a great chance for Jureček, who found himself all alone on the small white space, but he didn’t convert either.

However, Jindřich Trpišovský was not upset about the missed chances.

“I was smiling. A player always wants to score a goal, I usually grumble about other situations on the pitch, such as indiscipline, bias or defensive things. Everybody wants to score, they don’t do it on purpose, they don’t score,” Trpišovský told the club’s website.

“We want to score a lot of goals for the fans both in front of the TV and for those who came directly to the match. Sometimes I smiled at what is possible not to give,” the Slavia coach added.

The home rematch should be a formality. However, it is on the big grass pitch in Eden that the Susians could shoot again if they improve their productivity.
