Marcus Rasford is looking forward to the new season under Ten Hag

Marcus Rashford has had his worst season in a Red Devils jersey. That’s why the Englishman didn’t even get Gareth Southgate’s invitation to the England national team. However, he believes that it was a big boost for him which will bring back his old form.
The 24-year-old only scored four goals and assisted two in the Premier League last season. And so he couldn’t help Manchester United improve on their sixth place finish overall. Rashford visibly lacked confidence and made unnecessary mistakes.
But no wonder, he has played a tremendous amount of games in recent years. Rashford is still only 24 years old, but has over 300 games for United and 46 national team starts for England.
It is understandable then that such a heavy playing load would take its toll on a player, and it is no wonder then that a dip in form and loss of a place in the starting line-up and a place in the England national team has come.
We saw the same drop in form and probably for the same reason with Czech international Tomáš Souček, who faced a lot of criticism in England. Moreover, he confirmed last summer that he played most of last season, including the Euros, through injury.
He says he spent the summer improving his fitness. He is optimistic during pre-season training and believes he will push through under Ten Hag. “It’ s a fresh start for me and I’m looking forward to it,” Rashford said.
“The first two and a half weeks of training have been good. We’ve improved a lot. The team is much fitter than last season and we have a lot of room for improvement. I’m in a good place at the moment and I’m looking forward to getting more games under my belt and getting ready for the season.”
Rashford took advantage of being left out of England’s June internationals. “It was something new to have such a long break.”
“I’m looking forward to starting again. I took the opportunity to do what I’ve always done and refocus. It’s my first year with the team since the very beginning. I feel fresh and ready.”
He played a very good first half in Bangkok against Liverpool, which United won 4-0.
Now Manchester United is in Australia, where Rashford will play against Melbourne Victory at the famous MCG Stadium on Friday, which Rashford is enjoying very much.
