Calhanoglu wanted to win the title, so he swapped AC Milan for Inter. After the Rossoneri victory, he hit out at Ibrahimovic: He contributed nothing to the title
Hakan Calhanoglu was a member of AC Milan for several years, but when he got the opportunity to leave for Inter, who managed to end Juventus’ reign, he immediately took it. The reason was simple. He saw a lot of potential in the team and he wanted to get his hands on the title. Ironically, the team he left won it. Now he’s leaning on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his former team.

A year ago, there was a spicy move in Italy. Inter Milan dominated the Italian Serie A, breaking Juventus’ hegemony. Even Hakan Calhanoglu, who was then coming to the end of his contract with the city rival, was eager to win the trophy.
AC Milan wanted to keep the Turkish footballer in the team, but not at any cost. Calhanoglu demanded too high a salary. And he was eventually offered one by Nerrazzuri, where he went as a free agent.
Of course, nowhere did he say that he went to a rival team for a better contract. He constantly cited the better chance of winning trophies, especially the league title, as the reason. But now it was not his Inter that were enjoying the Scudetto, but AC.
And Calhanoglu’s sportsmanlike and complacent attitude was not to be taken lightly. On the contrary. In an interview with Tivibu Spor, he was talking down his former employer. According to him, Inter have a much better team, which he says will be reflected in the results in the coming season.
However, among other things, he made a comment about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who enjoyed the title celebrations in Milan with all his might. “He is 40 years old, not 18. At his age I would not behave like that,” Calhanoglu responded to the Swedish football legend’s digs.
However, he was far from finished there. “He likes to be the centre of attention. He will do anything for it. Yet he has contributed absolutely nothing to the Scudetto this season. He barely played. He even wrote about me in his book. He had to do it, otherwise he’d have nothing but blank pages. In the end, it’s always him who calls me and asks me to go out to dinner or for a motorbike ride with him,” Calhanoglu added.
It’s worth noting then that Ibrahimovic, although he didn’t play much, still scored 8 goals and added 3 assists in the league. He averaged 91.5 minutes to contribute to his team’s goals. And he was playing with an injury that will now keep him out of action for quite some time.
