Procházka was welcomed to Brno’s Svobody Square by around ten thousand fans
Jiri Procházka certainly didn’t rest after winning the championship of the world’s biggest MMA organization UFC at UFC 275 in an unforgettable war with Glover Teixeira. He had a lot of media duties to attend to after taking the Brazilian legend to the submission, and then he had a tough trip home.
At 4:30 p.m., Prochazka was scheduled to meet with fans and media at Brno’s Liberty Square. A big screen stage and thousands of fans awaited the arrival of their champion. The footage from the packed square proved that it was an extraordinary success for Czech sport.
Radio Krokodýl’s announcer informed the chanting crowd that Jirka would be late. However, the fans were able to view the footage of the fighting champion on the screen and it certainly didn’t show in the mood.
The Moravian Samurai was to arrive at the square from Masaryk Street. The fans created an amazing backdrop when a motorcade of police cars escorting the champion appeared on Svoboda Square shortly after 5 pm.
Champion Procházka clearly enjoyed his arrival home and the fatigue from the demanding program was not noticeable at all. Energized Procházka peeked out of his car and showed his won belt to the fans.
Many fans were lucky enough to get a chance to touch the UFC champion’s belt. The announcer then told the fans to wait a minute, the champion had a dry throat and disappeared into the local Radegast Sports Pub for a while.
I love you, shouted an energized Prochazka into the crowd
After a while, the Moravian brawler took to the stage and gave an interview to the amazing crowd. “I love you,” he shouted to the crowd after the moderator asked him what he thought about the atmosphere in the square.
During the interview, he entertained the roaring crowd several times by biting into a sausage bouquet he had received as a gift from Brno city councillors and lamenting that he was still sore after his bloody war with Teixeira. “It was a fight, Glover didn’t fall down,” he briefly commented on the fight itself. “Then, boom, there it was,” he added.
“Anything is possible, you just have to believe in it, ” he motivated the fans in attendance. “Victory, ” he finished his stand-up on stage. He then agreed to sign autographs for the fans, to overwhelming chants.
Shortly before six o’clock, he then left the stage area and headed back to the Radegast Sport Pub. Along the way, he greeted fans and enjoyed a well-deserved ovation. After 6pm, the fans slowly dispersed, with some fans still waiting outside the bar for their champion.
