Jules Koundé is one of the hottest defenders on the transfer market. The 23-year-old Sevilla stopper is considered one of the best central defenders of the future. Logically, several big clubs are vying for his signature.
The French national team stopper has already played five seasons in adult football. As an 18-year-old he started playing for Bordeaux, in whose jersey he played in the Europa League group stage and against Slavia.
After two years, he moved to Sevilla, where he has now played three seasons. And he has become one of the best stoppers in La Liga. He also has the advantage of being able to play at right back.
Chelsea have been very interested in him for a long time, and last summer Kounde’s transfer to London was imminent and almost considered a done deal. But in the end, he collapsed and Koundé stayed at Sevilla.
He had another good season there and so there is talk of moving up a level again. However, according to Esport3 sources, he is currently closer to a move to Barcelona.
Negotiations with the Catalan club are said to be at an advanced stage and Koundé himself reportedly prefers to stay in La Liga, where he has quickly got used to Spanish football and the culture of life.
Real Madrid were also very interested in the Paris native in the past, but were ultimately put off by the money involved. Sevilla are asking 70-80 million euros for their gem. The question is whether Barcelona will find these funds.
