Blackburn Rovers is one of the traditional English clubs, but it hasn’t had a first division affiliation for some time. But he would like to change that. He now has a vacancy as head coach. And that’s exactly why the famous Carlo Ancelotti contacted the management.
He won the Premier League in 1995, but has been absent from the top flight since 2012. Blackburn Rovers are trying to return to the elite, but still unsuccessfully. This season, the club missed the play-offs for promotion to the elite by six points.
This is also the reason why head coach Tony Mowbray was sacked. The club’s management is therefore looking for his replacement, who could finally instil a winning mentality and tactics that will lift the team.
According to British publication The Sun, the traditional English club has been contacted by the famous Carlo Ancelotti, who won not only the Spanish league but also the prestigious Champions League with Real Madrid last season.
However, there is no need to worry that he might want to swap the royal club for a second English league club. The Italian coach contacted the club for a recommendation on his former assistant Duncan Ferguson.
Ferguson was Ancelotti’s assistant at Everton and even after the Italian’s departure to Real Madrid at the Toffees, he remained alongside Rafael Benítez or Frank Lampard.
In fact, Ferguson wants to become head coach and is in direct contention for the position at Blackburn. The recommendation of the great man that Ancelotti undoubtedly is can definitely help him to do so.
