The new Sancho? Dortmund buy another youngster from Manchester City

Borussia Dortmund have done a lot in the last week. Dortmund signed new coach Edin Terzic, midfielder Özcan and two new goalkeepers. And this time, they acquired Dutchman Braaf from Manchester City’s academy.
After Jadon Sancho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Borussia Dortmund also managed to snag a third youngster from Manchester City’s talent factory. Jayden Braaf has been signed by the Westphalian outfit for free.
Braaf, who wears the Netherlands U18 captain’s armband, transferred to City in 2018 from PSV Eindhoven as one of the hottest talents. But he suffered a serious knee injury at the end of the 2020/21 season when he went on loan to Udinese.
“Jayden, whose development we have been following closely for several years, has shown in the past that he can be a difference player thanks to his speed and talent,” said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
“After more than a year off due to injury, he needs time to regain his original strength and fully establish himself in men’s football. We want to give him that time and introduce him gently.”
Dortmund are hoping Braaf can make an impression similar to Jadon Sancho, who made the same move in 2017.
Braaf was expected to join the main squad in the future but has been injured for a long time and will therefore return to the game through Dortmund’s U23 squad.
Borussia Dortmund have therefore signed seven players before the summer transfer window even started. And still no full replacement for Erling Haaland has arrived. The names of Sebastian Haller and Sasa Kalajdzic are the most mentioned in the media.
