Hamburg have had a successful season. Although it didn’t look like a barrage for a long time, six wins from the last six rounds of the second Bundesliga have secured third place in the table. HSV extended their winning streak in the first barrage match.
Hertha, on the other hand, held on to the unrelegated 15th place, but a single point from the last three rounds and a goal from Stuttgart at the very end condemned the Berlin side to a fight for survival. And a 0:1 loss at home certainly won’t boost their confidence.
The home team relies on striker Robert Glatzel, who has scored twenty-seven goals and assisted four times. Court assistant and former youth international Sonny Kittel has scored nine times and assisted eighteen goals.
Marco Richter deserves a mention in the away team, the German international has six goals and two assists. Stefan Jovetic has also been impressive, with the Montenegrin icon scoring seven goals and assisting once.
Hamburg will miss Tim Leibold, Hertha’s squad is more numerous, with Lee Dong Jun, Martin Dardai, Alexander Schwolow and Lukas Klunter unavailable.
Hamburg relies on a goal-scoring offense, scoring more than once in five of their last six league games.
In addition, Hertha have not fared well outside of Berlin, winning only one of their last twelve away games.
Considering the form of both teams and the strength of the home environment, I think Hamburg will win the rematch and advance.
