On June 11th, Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka will fight for the UFC welterweight championship. Neither fighter is a fan of unnecessary trash talk, so we may see words of praise a month before the fight.
The UFC 275 tournament in Singapore is scheduled for June 11. It will be watched by a large number of Czech viewers, because Jiri Prochazka will be there.
The popular Czech MMA fighter will fight for the first time ever for the UFC welterweight title, his opponent will be the reigning champion Glover Teixeira.
The experienced Brazilian, like Prochazka, is not a fan of unnecessary trash talk. Thus, we can still see words of praise between the two, which Teixeira has now uttered in an interview with iDNES.
“A lot of people are asking if Jiri is ready, should he have gotten that title shot after two fights? Yes, I could be political and say let him earn it yet, but when I look at who he beat and how he beat them… I want to measure up. He’s fought well so far and I like a challenge,” he said.
His number of fights in the UFC didn’t sit well with the likes of Alexander Rakic, who believed he deserved a chance more. But who knows, maybe he’ll go for the title with the winner of this fight.
“Jiri is a fighter of the new generation that is making our division stronger. He fights with a completely different style and takes risks in the cage. That’s what I do. I honestly find it sad when I see newcomers getting space for speaking well,” Teixeira said.
