Citizens honour Agüero with a statue outside the stadium, fans laugh: He looks like Action Man!
Sergio Kun Agüero is arguably Manchester City’s biggest icon. Be it because of his lack of winning history and legend, but also because of what he has done for the Citizens. So the club honored him with a statue outside the stadium, but that didn’t go down too well according to the fans.

You’ve probably all seen the video at some point. Manchester United won their game and in order for Manchester City to win their first ever Premier League title, they had to score 2 goals in the setup against QPR, as they were losing 1: 2. The equalizer was scored and at 93::20 Kun Agüero appeared in the whitewash and shot the Citizens title.
The Argentine striker has already made history with this feat, which he confirmed in the following years when he became the club’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals.
Manchester City thus decided to honour their legend with a statue outside the Etihad Stadium, and as a motif the club chose the iconic moment from the decisive goal when Agüero waves his jersey above his head.
But the rendition was not met with success by all fans. “My God, he looks like Action Man! ” a Citizens fan jokingly remarked. “Who makes these statues? That’s terrible, ” commented another. “That’s as bad as the Ronaldo statue, ” said a fan of the infamous Cristiano Ronaldo bust.
“The statue itself looks terrible. But with the lighting around the stadium it doesn’t look so bad,” another Citizens supporter looked for positives.
