The first match offered a very attractive spectacle. Knauff opened the scoring in the first minute and Zouma replied in the 21st minute. However, Kamada added a second goal after the change of sides and Frankfurt took home a valuable win.
Neither team came out victorious in the league rematch. West Ham fell to Arsenal, Frankfurt to Leverkusen. Tomas Soucek was rested for the weekend and only played 13 minutes in the league. Vladimir Coufal played the whole game, Alex Kral spent the game on the bench.
Daichi Kamada has been the biggest driver for the Germans in the Europa League. The 25-year-old Japanese has scored 5 goals and added 1 assist and is the fourth top scorer in the EL. After that, we can only find three-goal scorers in both teams, with Kostic, Bowen, Benrahma and Rice scoring 3 goals.
Frankfurt is a relatively offensive team. In the spring, they scored in every game in the knockout stage of the Europa League. And it certainly hasn’t had easy opponents, coming through Betis and Barcelona, now playing West Ham.
The Hammers only came up empty in their first game with Sevilla, after that they scored every time. From this it can be predicted that both teams could score again in the second semi-final.
