Berardi has been shining at Sassuolo for years, will he get the chance to shine at a big club this summer?
Domenico Berardi has long been one of Italy’s best footballers, yet year after year he plays at Sassuolo, the club that nurtured him for adult football, and has been linked with a move to a bigger club. That hasn’t happened yet though, will it happen in the summer?

He was one of Italy’s greatest talents, now for several years he has been one of the best Italian footballers and one of the best players in the Italian Serie A. He has shown his quality in every season, but only in the jersey of the modest Sassuolo team.
It was at Sassuolo that Domenico Berardi worked his way up to adult football, helping his team win the second league in the 2012/13 season and qualify for the Italian elite. His performances earned him the award for the best player of the competition.
Juventus acquired the rights to him in 2013, but the now 27-year-old Italian never played in the Turin club’s jersey. He has played his entire career in a Sassuolo jersey and has already made almost 320 starts with an excellent record of 119 goals and 81 assists.
His performances have also earned Berardi several nominations to the Italian national team. He was even there when Italy dominated the European Championship in the summer of 2021, where he missed a single game. In total, he played 24 games for the national team, scoring 6 goals and assisting twice.
This season, the right winger is even the highest rated footballer in the entire Serie A, earning a 7.50 rating from WhoScored. In 28 matches he has scored 14 goals and 14 assists.
What exactly does the Italian footballer excel at? His ability to send through passes and key passes is undoubtedly worth mentioning, as is his precision in finishing or his ability to push forward from a distance.
However, Berardi has no real weakness. On the contrary. He is truly versatile, involved defensively and a real team player. It’s no wonder that every year he is linked with a move to a bigger club, but so far it hasn’t really happened.
But that could change in the summer. Juventus are interested in him again, but the big talk is about a move to AC Milan, which a player like Berardi could take to an even higher level.
The Rossoneri don’t have a similar player, and they don’t have anyone of his quality. However, it is a question how he will cope with the new environment and especially with more pressure. But at his age and with his experience, it shouldn’t be a problem anymore.
