Chimaev is out of luck! Even a win over Burns won’t help him get a title shot. What plan does the UFC boss have for him?

Khamzat Chimaev has the toughest game of his career ahead of him. Brazilian Gilbert Burns will face him in the octagon at UFC 273. It was expected that if he wins, the Swede could fight for the title in his next fight, but the UFC boss has other plans for him.

Khamzat Chimaev has been calling for a tough opponent for so long, he’s got one. Tonight he’ll be challenged by Gilbert Burns, currently the number two welterweight. Only Colby Covington and champion Kamaru Usman are ahead of him.

Even though Chimaev is only ranked eleventh, all the bookmakers favour him in the fight with the Brazilian, and the same is true for the fans, who are betting on him to win like wild.

It is widely expected that the Swedish fighter will turn out to be a world-class star, quite possibly one of the best welterweight fighters of all time. That’s also why it was expected that if he won against a tough opponent, he could fight for the title. But he won’t.

“I think if Khamzat wins this weekend, we’ll see him in his next fight against Colby Covington,” UFC boss Dana White opined on The Pat McAfee Show.

Champion Usman is then expected to face Leon Edwards later this year. Should Chimaev then win over Covington, the title fight will not pass him by.

the 27-year-old Chechnya native now boasts a perfect 10-0 record, winning all four of his fights early in the UFC. He’s clearly dominated his fights. Can he do it tonight?
