Lionel Messi has confirmed that he will be thinking about his future after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Although it was a comment aimed at his continuity with the Argentine national team, there are significant rumours that David Beckham, owner of overseas football club Inter Miami, would like to sign him. But the holder of seven Ballon d’Ors is not the only player Beckham is targeting.

David Beckham as the owner of Inter Miami

Beckham founded the MLS club back in 2018 with the hope of turning the Miami franchise into one of the cornerstones of the North American soccer landscape.

He attempted to use his own popularity to tempt players to sign with his club. However, the club’s goal is to become a world-renowned home for the world’s best soccer players.

Four years after forming Inter Miami, Beckham wants to reunite one of the most amazing partnerships not only in Barcelona’s history. Barcelona’s last Champions League win under Luis Enrique in 2015 was a phenomenal achievement, with the attacking trident of Messi – Suárez – Neymar in particular reigning supreme.

Beckham targets former FC Barcelona stars

Although Messi joined Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain last summer, the team under Mauricio Pochettino struggled and suffered heavy defeats in the most important games of the season. Lionel Messi even had to face boos from his own fans in the immediate aftermath of the Paris club’s Champions League elimination against Real Madrid.

The former England international would like to at least partially rebuild Barcelona’s star attack and is targeting Atlético Madrid star Uruguayan cannon Luis Suárez in addition to Messi. The latter is reportedly not very happy in Madrid and given his age, it is not an unrealistic possibility.

In addition to the aforementioned strikers, Beckham would like to use the services of other teammates who have contributed significantly to the great success of the Catalan team in the last decade. These footballers would be the brains of the current Barcelona, midfielder Sergio Busquets and Spanish wing-back Jordi Alba.

Inter Miami plans to sign all four players until the 2023/2024 season, mainly because the aforementioned stars want to stay in Europe before the World Cup in Qatar. Star Argentine Lionel Messi has previously flirted with the idea of joining the MLS and should be a factor in bringing his former teammates as well.

messi, 34, let it be known after a national team match at the weekend that he would rethink his future in football after the World Cup. It remains to be seen whether that comment was aimed only at the national team or also his time in Europe’s top leagues.
