Liverpool fans didn’t forget Zouma’s cat incident, giving the French defender a shout and an aerial message
Almost a month has passed since the video of Zouma kicking his pet went viral on the internet, but football fans across England are slow to forget and regularly bring the situation to Zouma’s attention.
Almost a month has passed since the video of Zouma kicking his pet went viral on the internet, but football fans across England are slow to forget and regularly bring the situation to Zouma’s attention.
West Ham played their first game after the incident at home against Watford and the away fans expressed their displeasure every time the French defender was on the ball. When he ended up on the ground after a foul, shouts of “That’s how your cat feels!” were heard
Newcastle fans again brought inflatable cats to the game against West Ham and striker Chris Wood reportedly distracted Zouma by meowing.
And Zouma didn’t get a break at Anfield either. Here, too, he was met with cat-themed chants and an inflatable pet.
But that wasn’t all. A plane flew over Anfield just before the game with a banner reading “Cats lives matter”.
Zouma has of course already apologised for the incident and has been fined by West Ham, but he has to expect similar actions from football fans for some time to come.
West Ham now face a Europa League match at Sevilla, so we’ll see if the Spanish fans will be similarly creative.
