Manchester United won the 29th round of the Premier League, beating Tottenham 3-2 at Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to leapfrog Josef Bican, the first ever top goalscorer in history.
The opening minutes offered only hints of chances, but in the final phase it was one inaccuracy after another. In the 14th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo shot from outside the box and gave Hugo Lloris no chance.
Moments later, Paul Pogba tried from a similar position but missed the back post by a whisker. On the other side, Eric Dier headed home a goal-line shot that was defended by Diogo Dalot.
In the 35th minute, the visitors were already celebrating. After a foul in the Manchester penalty area, Harry Kane took the ball and equalised from the penalty spot. However, the tie would not last long. Ronaldo again finished the quick action after a pass from Jadon Sancho.
In the second half we waited until the 61st minute for a chance, Heung Min Son missed with a shot from the edge of the box. In the 72nd minute Harry Maguire got the ball into the net, but it was his own ball and the visiting fans celebrated the equaliser to 2-2.
Ronaldo had a hat-trick in the 79th minute, but Lloris finally saved it for the third time. Three minutes later, the French goalkeeper just stood by. Alex Telles’ centre was headed into the net by none other than Ronaldo.
Manchester were able to hold on to the match and moved up to fourth place in the table with a 3-2 win. Tottenham remain seventh.
