Will Jan Kuchta become a victim of sanctions? His transfer to Lokomotiv Moscow will be bitter
Striker Jan Kuchta left Slavia for Russian Lokomotiv Moscow in the winter transfer period. The Russian club bought him from Slavia for 130 million and the Czech national striker followed in the footsteps of Alex Kral. The latter also had a Russian route via Spartak Moscow and then followed a transfer to the coveted England (specifically West Ham).
However, Kuchta’s Russian journey has been bitter from the start and circumstances are not going his way. After the transfer, the ex-Slavic forward immediately joined the winter training, which took place in Marbella, Spain. There he made a great impression on the coaching team, because he immediately started to score goals.
In 5 games played, Jan Kuchta scored 5 goals, a very nice start. But the circumstances of the last few days have made his transfer very frustrating.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent sanctions will also affect the Russian Premier League and Russian clubs will not play European cups until further notice. And Kuchta’s Lomotiv was very keen on those.
Lokomotiv’s opening match of the spring season against Krasnodar was postponed because of the war in Ukraine. But that’s the least of it, it’s only a matter of time before Russian clubs, which are very generous to their players, start running out of money.
The economic sanctions imposed on Russia are really huge and who knows if the Czech national striker will see his contract fulfilled 100%. The whole transfer due to current events can be called a misstep, but the 25-year-old striker could not have foreseen this.
