How does the Czech coefficient look after the opening matches of the Prague “S”? Fifteenth place is in play!
Prague’s S are the only surviving Czech teams in the spring part of the European Cup. Slavia added 0.400 points to the coefficient ranking thanks to their win over Fenerbahce (3:2), Sparta could add 0.200 points for a draw, but unfortunately they fell to Partizan Belgrade (0:1) at Letna. How does it look now with the Czech coefficient?

Before the start of the opening matches of the knockout part of the ECL, the Czech Republic was only 19th in the ranking of national coefficients. But the competition between the nations is so close that the 19th and 15th teams were separated by only a few hundredths of a point.
Slavia’s win helped Czech football immensely, because we are competing with Turkey for the crucial 15th place, which ensures the participation of 5 teams in Europe in the 2023/2024 season
Thanks to Slavia we jumped to 17th place! We sent Croatia and Greece below us. Dinamo Zagreb lost to Sevilla in Spain and the Greek representatives Olympiakos and PAOK also lost their matches.
If Sparta had at least drawn against Partizan, we would now be in 15th place, if they had won, we would even have a small margin. Unfortunately that didn’t happen and so we are still ahead of the Turks (they have Fenerbahce and Galatasaray in the game) and the Danes (they have FC Copenhagen, Midtjylland and Randers in the game).
Thanks to Partizan’s win, Serbia moved up to a sensational 11th place ahead of Ukraine! This gives the championship team the certainty of the Europa League and also a relatively good chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
Czech football has to concentrate mainly on 15th place. The chance is still there! We need a promotion for Slavia, preferably by winning the game in Eden, but also a correction from Sparta Prague, who failed to do well at Letná.
Relying on the Susians would not be good, because we also have to take into account that our competitors may struggle in the rematches. See how the coefficient ranking looks now!
