Friday night will offer one match in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Swindon City, playing in England’s third highest league, will welcome Manchester City, currently the best team in England. Pep Guardiola’s team is planning to come for an easy promotion.
The home team has not been showing good form lately. Out of the last five league games, they have managed to win only once, notched up one draw and lost three times. In the English League Two table they are in the 5th place, 11 points behind the first place.
The visiting team from Manchester will arrive with fantastic form. Five wins from the last five games, a score of 20::4 and a lead in the Premier League of 10 points. That’s Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.
As this is the 4th round of the FA Cup, we can’t expect the away team to arrive at full strength. The focus will definitely remain on the Premier League despite the high lead on Liverpool.
Rather, we can expect players who mostly spend time on the bench to play. Guardiola could supplement these players with youngsters from Manchester City’s academy. He will probably only take a couple of big names with him in the substitutions, who would take the pitch in case of adversity.
The magic of the FA Cup is that really random teams from different leagues can meet. It often happens that the favourite is caught off guard by the underdog’s fight and determination, but we don’t expect that in this match.
Manchester City are not planning on finishing in the cup this early. Swindon will surely enjoy the match with a big team, but the favorite will not be surprised because even the Citizens’ substitutes are much better than the Swindon’s squad.
Manchester City have been scoring a lot of goals lately and can continue to do so against weaker opponents. We expect the visitors to go for the win and win by at least two goals.
