Arteta confirmed that Arsenal are ready for big signings. Will he get Vlahovic now in January?
Dusan Vlahovic is one of the most followed strikers by many top clubs in Europe. However, the Serbian hitman is mainly talked about in connection with Arsenal, who are ready for more big signings, according to coach Mikel Arteta.
Dusan Vlahovic is one of the most followed strikers by many top clubs in Europe. However, the Serbian hitman is mainly talked about in connection with Arsenal, who are ready for more big signings, according to coach Mikel Arteta.
In 21 games, the only 21-year-old Serbian has already scored 18 goals and contributed to 3 more. In total, he has already scored 43 goals in 96 games, which is logically starting to attract a lot of attention.
His killer instinct would be especially useful for Arsenal, whose top league scorers are midfielders Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard and wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Since his arrival, Arteta has been building a completely new team at the Emirates Stadium, based primarily on young players, and that is why one would expect Vlahovic to fit in perfectly. The player himself, then, would almost certainly be given enough space to show everyone his ability.
“I think given the amount of things and the way we want to develop, we have to maximise our efforts in every transfer window and be alert,” Arteta told the press conference.
“Edu and his team are working very hard and we all know exactly what we have to do. Whether we can do it now in January or in the summer remains to be seen as it is linked to many other things,” the Spanish coach continued.
Fiorentina are believed to value their striker at £60 million, which is certainly not low. And given the Gunners’ several bad buys of late, more caution is to be expected.
However, Vlahovic is a highly sought-after commodity who is also of huge interest to other leading European sides and Arteta would certainly hate to let such a potential cannonballer slip through his fingers, even more so when he desperately needs him.
Lucas Torreira, who is currently on loan at Fiorentina, could also help in the transfer process.
