In the first game of the year, Patrik Schick continued his excellent shooting form from the end of last season and scored in the Union Berlin net. The Czech striker has recently been linked with a move to a bigger club, but how does he see it?
Bayer Leverkusen would love to make another look at the Champions League, having failed to qualify last season due to their Bundesliga position, but this season he is doing his best to make an appearance in the millionaire’s competition.
The biggest credit for this, however, goes to Patrik Schick, who is scoring goal after goal and is almost unstoppable. He has already scored 17 goals in 15 league games and is only three goals behind the sharpshooter Robert Lewandowski.
The Czech striker has been in great form since the Euros, but it has skyrocketed at the end of 2021. Immediately, Schick’s transfer for a better one began to be discussed. Dortmund are said to be interested, and a move to England could also be in the cards.
And what does the German star have to say? “Of course it’s nice to read that I’m being linked with big clubs, but I’m really happy at Leverkusen, I want to get into the Champions League with them, I’ve fallen in love with life in Germany,” he expressed in an interview with Bild.
“I’m not thinking about other clubs at all. Everyone knows my situation and the length of my contract. I would never cause the club so much trouble that I would force a transfer,” added Schick, who is under contract at Leverkusen until 2025.
Schick’s approach is of course commendable. Soon to celebrate his 26th birthday, Leverkusen is already a big club in its own right. Fans will respect him all the more for that character.
