Southampton will face Brentford on Tuesday in the eighteenth round of the Premier League. Both clubs are quietly in the middle of the table, with the more experienced Saints the slight favourites.
Southampton will face Brentford on Tuesday in the eighteenth round of the Premier League. Both clubs are quietly in the middle of the table, with the more experienced Saints the slight favourites.
Southampton maintain the standard of recent years. It hasn’t lost its last three games and doesn’t have to fear relegation from 14th place yet. They are ten points clear of eighteenth-placed Burnley.
Brentford were helped considerably by their win over Aston Villa in the last round. They have jumped up to twelfth place and now have a twelve point lead on the relegation zone. They are two points behind the top ten.
The home side wash their hands over their summer partnership with Chelsea. Armando Broja, who is visiting the south coast, scored four goals and assisted once, while Tino Livramento scored once and assisted once from the right-back position.
Ivan Toney scored six goals for the visitors, the English playmaker opened the net four times and assisted twice. Super midfielder Yoane Wissa has three league goals despite not playing even 25 percent of the possible playing time.
Southampton is the king of draws, no one in the league has more (9). But at the same time, they are struggling in attack, only Brighton and Wolverhampton have scored fewer goals than Saints (20) from the top 15.
Brentford, on the other hand, are on a roll, scoring at least two goals in three of their last five Premier League games.
Considering the good mood in the cabin after winning the FA Cup and the league, I think the visitors will not lose.
