Young French goal scorer Kylian Mbappé scored twice in Tuesday’s Champions League match against PSG and Bruges. And thanks to these two goals, he broke one of Lionel Messi’s records!
Paris Saint-Germain managed to beat Club Brugge by a high score of 4:1. Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi contributed to the victory with two goals. The younger of the pair also broke the record held by his current teammate.
The first goal came just after 70 seconds of the match and it was the French international who scored it. He added his second in the seventh minute. In the 38th minute, Lionel Messi joined the scorers’ list, and with a quarter of an hour to go, he sealed the final 4-1.
The Belgian side only managed to score once in the match, through Mats Rits in the 68th minute. He cleared a difficult pass from Lang and headed unerringly along the ground to the left post.
Mbappé, however, reached another fine milestone in his career. He managed to surpass the 30-goal mark in the Champions League. Moreover, he became the youngest player in history to do so!
The previous record was held by Lionel Messi, who broke it in 2010. At that time, he was 23 years and 131 days old. His younger PSG teammate has now rewritten the record to 22 years and 352 days.
Mbappé, however, may have broken another record. Which one? He managed the opening two goals of the match in six minutes and 23 seconds, which would normally make him the record holder for the fastest time to score two goals.
In any case, the top spot is held by Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who scored two goals in six minutes and 13 seconds. That was in November 2019 in a game against Galatasaray. Only 10 seconds separated the young Frenchman to break two Champions League records in one evening.
The French international, who is based at PSG, has eleven goals scored and fourteen assists this season. He needed only 22 matches to record these 25 points.
