What did Sparta show against Brondby? Unnecessary exclusion of Wiesner, bad Soucek and excellent Pesek
Sparta won their home game against Brondby and moved up from third place to the Conference Europa League playoffs. What did they show against the Danish opponent? We’ll look at that in the Spartan blog.

Goal accomplished, there will be a European Cup in the spring! Nevertheless, one can’t shake the taste that it could have gone much better, all it took was a goal in the opening game at Brondby.
In that case, Sparta would have been promoted from second place and could have enjoyed a truly resounding third-placed Champions League opponent.
The European Conference League is a lesser opponent, although at least there is a real chance that Sparta will not end up in the play-offs, in which they will challenge the second team from the EKL group.
But back to the last game, which Sparta won 2: 0. The first half was absolutely tragic, fortunately all the big chances of the guests ended with offside or a bad shot.
Dávid Hancko scored a beautiful goal from a direct kick at the end of the half and Sparta could calm down. At the start of the second half, the referee handed out yellow cards to both sides for insubordination, which Sparta later regretted.
In the 49th minute Adam Hložek scored the second goal and it was almost certain that promotion was in the bag. It wouldn’t be Sparta, however, that might have made things difficult for themselves. Tomas Wiesner deservedly received a second yellow card and headed to the showers early.
A completely unnecessary card that the coaching staff will surely blame him for. Wiesner has had behavioural problems of late, which often shows in his poor performance.
I can’t praise Filip Soucek either, or rather coach Pavel Vrba who put him in the game after more than two months break. Especially the first half was very unsuccessful from Soucek’s side and it was a surprise that he finished the game.
On the other hand, Jakub Pesek deserves praise, who also returned from injury and played very well. As well as his teammate Lukáš Haraslín, who was able to return to his side, where he plays much better.
The man of the match was Dávid Hancko, who scored a hilarious goal in which the rest of the team played a role as well, as several players set up the wall excellently, making it difficult for the goalkeeper to catch the ball.
Hancko could have scored more goals and it could have looked even better. Brondby were not very strong opponents in either game and if they had won the first game it could have been better.
However, a spring in the cups is valuable and now the clear goal is to finish the two league rounds without losing a point. At home to Bohemians and then away to Hradec, we simply must not lose, and then we need to prove ourselves on the transfer market.
Sparta need reinforcements for certain positions if they want to continue fighting for the title. If it loses one of its wing players or someone from the defence, it could be bad.
