Manchester United versus Arsenal, it was always a tense duel for the title. In recent years, both clubs have experienced a bit of a decline and are more likely to be fighting for European cups. Still, the duels between them offer an interesting spectacle.

Sir Alex Ferguson versus Arsene Wenger on the bench. This was a duel between arguably the two best coaches in Premier League history, their longevity as managers is probably not going to be disputed.

Both teams have huge histories, have had packed squads and have fought for the title every year. That’s part of the reason why the games between them have always been so heated, even though it’s not a city derby.

Arsenal have fallen very low in recent years, last season not even reaching the cup. Manchester United are not that bad, they play cups regularly, yet they can’t cope with Arsenal.

The last time they beat them was on 25 January in the FA Cup. If we were looking for the Red Devils’ last league win, we would have to go all the way back to April 29, 2018. Back then, Pogba and Fellaini scored in the 91st minute to secure a 2-1 win. José Mourinho was on the bench and the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Lukaku and Antonio Valencia were in the line-up.

Six league games followed, with Manchester United failing to challenge the Canaries even once.

5.12.18 Manchester United – Arsenal 2::2

Three draws were born, Arsenal won three times. The London team is definitely not a favourite opponent for Manchester United. And even more so, as this season has gotten underway again.

However, the Red Devils have one triumph in their pocket. Cristiano Ronaldo, who can score goals for Arsenal, has returned to Old Trafford. In his career, he has made fifteen appearances against the Gunners, scoring six times and adding two assists. Out of 15 matches, he celebrated a win seven times, four times the match ended in a draw and four times he had to endure defeat.
