Speculation about Pochettino and Zidane is fictitious, says PSG sporting director
As resigned as Mauricio Pochettino seemed on the PSG bench during the game against Manchester City, it certainly had nothing to do with the fact that he was already thinking about Old Trafford. At least, that’s the opinion of Leonardo, who is the sporting director at the Parisian club.

PSG have strengthened tremendously in pre-season and so the management logically expects all the trophies that are possible to be won. Only, the last match with the Citizens showed one big problem that Pochettino in particular has to solve.
The star attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Mbappé do whatever they want and completely disregard team play. What they did in the aforementioned match has made more than one football legend jump out of his chair and they unanimously agreed that PSG has no chance to win this way.
Pochettino’s cluelessness then did not escape the journalists who speculated that the Argentine coach could replace the outgoing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, when it is no secret that he is a big Red Devils fan.
Moreover, Zinedine Zidane is currently the vacant coach, all seemed brilliant until this apparently media fairy tale was debunked by Leonardo.
“We don’t want Pochettino to leave. We have never even discussed the subject and no club has contacted us about him. We have a lot of respect for Zinedine Zidane for what he has done as a player and coach, but I can honestly tell you that there has been no conversation with him on the subject,” the PSG sporting director told AFP.
On the other hand, it must be added that there is a little bit of truth in every story. Already many owners and directors of clubs have said the same thing to the public as Leonardo has now, and the next day their player has already transferred and the speculation has been confirmed.
It’s definitely worth mentioning here the information that an unnamed source came up with to Goal, who confirmed that Manchester United really do have Pochettino as a priority.
Thus, if we take into account the mutual sympathies, his departure to England after the end of this season is more than likely.
This is also suggested by the fact that Manchester United’s new coach Ralf Rangnick, not yet official, is only due to sign a contract until the end of this season.
