Gerrard’s successor at Rangers? Dutch player legend
Dutch football legend Giovanni van Bronckhorst is among the most likely candidates for the head coaching job at Glasgow Rangers.
Dutch football legend Giovanni van Bronckhorst is among the most likely candidates for the head coaching job at Glasgow Rangers.
According to Sky Sports, a deal between the reigning champions of the Scottish top flight and the 16-year-old Giovanni van Bronckhorst is on track.
The Dutch legendary footballer could thus be appointed as a successor to Steven Gerrard, who has decided to take over England’s Aston Villa.
Van Bronckhorst knows the Ibrox environment. He pulled the blue Rangers jersey over his head in the summer of 1998 after he decided to leave his native Netherlands. He made such a good name for himself in Scotland in his three years at Rangers that he was signed by Arsenal in the summer of 2001.
Van Bronckhorst won five trophies in three seasons with Rangers and has written positively in the hearts of the club’s fans.
Moreover, the former defender has more coaching experience than Steven Gerrard boasted at the time of his arrival.
At Feyenoord, he celebrated winning his first title in eighteen years as head coach. After a coaching stint at Guangzhou City, where he had many familiar names in his squad, and a coaching stint with Pep Guardiola, Van Bronckhorst could be a suitable candidate for Rangers.
