Top footballers’ troubles don’t end there, Dutchman Promes charged with attempted murder

Twenty-nine-year-old Dutch national team player Quincy Promes is in a lot of trouble. The public prosecutor’s office has reportedly charged him with attempted murder.
The Spartak Moscow striker will have to concentrate on a much more serious problem in the coming months besides football. A prosecutor has accused him of attempted murder. David Limbersky’s drunken crash is a minor offence by comparison.
As De Telegraaf reports, Quincy Promes resolved a conflict with his cousin at a family party last year by stabbing her in the knee with a knife.
Although Promes has always steadfastly denied the accusation, he faces a far harsher punishment than two nights in the cells. In fact, that is how long the footballer spent in custody immediately after the incident before he was released.
The victim’s lawyer, Yehudi Moszkowicz, is satisfied with the prosecution and is demanding a severe punishment. The player’s lawyers, on the other hand, are doing everything possible to ensure that a conviction does not occur.
If the facts of the charges are fulfilled, Promes could face up to 3.5 years in prison without parole for grievous bodily harm.
The Dutch representative’s indictment came just hours after Mendy heard the aggravation of his rape charge.
