The UFC is keeping a back door. He doesn’t know how much time Teixeira will take to recover, says Prochazka’s coach
Jiří Procházka should be the next title challenger for several reasons. But Glover Teixeira needs time to recover and it’s quite possible that Procházka will have to fight Aleksandar Rakic or another fighter because of that.

Jiri Prochazka and his coaches were there when Glover Teixeira defeated Jan Blachowicz to become the new UFC welterweight champion.
Teixeira said afterwards that Prochazka is next in line, but Dana White, the UFC president, tempered those passions as everything is still to be resolved.
However, Martin Karaivanov, Prochazka’s trainer and manager, has already discussed the fight. What did he say about it and will Prochazka get a title fight or will he have to take an interim fight?
“I spoke to Mick Maynard (UFC matchmaker in charge of the higher weights) after the gala and they’re leaving a backdoor in there before they promise anything. The thing is, nobody knows how much time Glover will take to recover, ” Martin Karaivanov explained to iSport.
“Right away in the cage interview, Daniel Cormier said that Jiri Prochazka is next, so they are counting on that. They’re leaving themselves room if they want to send us into the fight early,” he added.
So it’s a question of how it will all play out. But the more realistic option is that Procházka will fight Aleksandar Rakic for the fight with Teixeira.
