Arsenal are going nowhere, despairs Gunners’ all-time top scorer

Thierry Henry is slowly, but surely, beginning to sink into despair as he has to watch his beloved Arsenal sink deeper and deeper. For him, the last game against Crystal Palace was just another piece in an endless mosaic of misery.

Arsenal have been floundering in crisis for years and it was Mikel Arteta who was supposed to be the one to get them out of this unenviable situation. Only he has failed to do so and even Gunners legends are starting to criticise him.

After another unconvincing performance against Crystal Palace, when Alexandre Lacazette rescued a point for a 2-2 draw only in the fifth minute of the setup, Henry is back to the Spanish coach.

“I don’t think things are going in the right direction. I’ve been waiting for the Brighton game to see if we can keep the ball on our feet in an away game against a dangerous opponent like Brighton. But I certainly didn’t see that,” commented the former French canon on Monday’s game.

Arsenal, however, have been doing well lately after a shaky start to the season, but it must be said, only in terms of results. However, it hasn’t been the same at all and the poor 1-0 wins over Norwich and Burnley are clear evidence of that.

Currently, the Gunners are in 12th place with 11 points, which is certainly a big disappointment for all the fans of the club. After all, Arsenal were the biggest spending club in all of Europe when they brought in 165 million euros worth of reinforcements.

Thus, many experts are wondering whether Arteta is the right man to lead this team. The results themselves are beginning to sway their opinion more and more to the unwanted side for the Spanish coach.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are very active in matches, sending an average of 13.6 shots at their opponents per game, the most in the Premier League after Liverpool (20.8), Manchester City (17.8), Manchester United (17.3) and West Ham (16.4).

But the goals aren’t coming! Only Norwich (2), Burnley (5) and Southampton (6) have scored fewer goals than Arsenal (7) in the current league season.

So the London outfit needs to streamline their attacking efforts and start picking up points regularly, as the top of the table is fast receding and another botched season would probably not be sustainable for Arteta!
