The South American football confederation CONMEBOL has come up with a revolutionary proposal. It would like to extend the half-time break in every match. This change should benefit both fans and players.
CONMEBOL chief Alejandro Domínguez believes that half-time breaks in current football are too short and should be extended to 25 minutes.
He has even addressed a letter to Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, asking him to discuss this proposal.
The reason for this is the possibility of improving the interval programmes and increasing their viewership.
Domínguez is clearly inspired by American football. Every year, the famous Super Bowl half-time show breaks viewing records.
The proposal will be debated on 27 October when the International Football Association Board meets.
In addition to this topic, it will also deal with the fight against covid and the harmfulness of headers.
