The World Cup in Qatar is fast approaching and the host country is trying to enforce mandatory vaccinations for players who want to travel to the tournament. What does FIFA say?
According to The Athletic, Qatar’s medical authorities and FIFA are trying to ensure that players who travel to the final tournament are vaccinated for coronavirus in two doses.
However, what is compulsory for players is certainly compulsory for fans. Thus, only those who have been vaccinated will almost certainly be allowed to enter the country.
The unvaccinated will only be able to enjoy the tournament in front of the television. With fans it is relatively simple, with players not so much.
Just look at the data from the Premier League, where only three teams have published the vaccination rates of their players.
Wolves are one of those who have vaccinated all their footballers with both doses. But it is believed that the rest of the league is worse off than the UK average alone.
For example, there are several players in Manchester United, according to the coach, who are unsure about vaccinations. However, FIFA agrees with Qatar and it is expected that shortlisting nominations will also have to be made according to whether or not the player in question is vaccinated.
